Angola, Ghana, Morocco, Mozambique described as Belarus' new growth points in Africa

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – Angola, Ghana, Morocco, and Mozambique will become new growth points for Belarus in the African region, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said in his article for the Belaruskaya Dumka magazine to mark 25 years of Belarus' independent foreign policy, BelTA has learned.

According to the minister, Belarus has restored its presence in the countries of Africa and the Middle East but and expanded it. Belarus' relations with the states of these remote regions rely on mutual understanding in politics, including on the international arena.

“The economic dimension is an overriding priority. Experts predict that Africa will become the fastest-growing market in the middle of the 21st century: the effective demand of Africans is increasing quicker than in any other corner of the planet, and they will become mass consumers in the near future. The cooperation with Africa is increasingly vibrant, first of all, thanks to the formation of reliable channels for the promotion of products. With this in mind, we will continue to work with such traditional partners as Egypt, Nigeria, Ethiopia, South Africa. We have also determined new growth points. These are Angola, Ghana, Morocco, Mozambique,” the article reads.

Belarus is implementing agrarian, manufacturing, and special projects in the African region. Assembly facilities for Belarusian equipment have been opened in Egypt, Algeria. Plans have been made to open such enterprises in South African and East African countries. Belarusian enterprises have opened trading companies in such promising countries as Egypt and South Africa. The opening of a trading facility in Nigeria in 2014 is meant to ensure the delivery of many brands of Belarusian-made products to African countries. A special emphasis is made on the promotion of high-tech products.

“Special attention is attached to the cooperation with regional associations, first of all, with the African Union. Our partners show interest and understanding, which were developed with the participation of diplomats, that there are good prospects of working with Belarus as an important source of advanced technologies and modern equipment,” Vladimir Makei emphasized.
