Andreichenko: Lack of trust stands in the way of progress towards peace, people's wellbeing

MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) - The lack of trust is the obstacle that impedes the countries' progress towards peace and people's wellbeing, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko told the media after the meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on 20 June, BelTA has learned.

“It is not a secret that it is probably the lack of trust that is the main reason why countries are unable to provide such basic things as peace, stability and wellbeing to their people,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

This is why the 26th session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to be held in Minsk on 5-9 July will focus on the ways of strengthening the mutual trust and cooperation for the sake of peace and prosperity in the OSCE region. The forum will discuss important issues such as combating terrorism, organized crime and corruption. The delegates will also review the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East.

It is planned that the session will adopt the main declaration and a number of resolutions sponsored by the participating countries. “As of today a total of 15 resolutions have been submitted for consideration, including one from Belarus. This resolution is aimed at combating the emergence and spread of new psychoactive substances, i.e. it is about the fight against drugs,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

The Belarusian resolution has been already supported by 20 states. Belarus hopes that it will be included in the agenda and adopted during OSCE PA session in Minsk.
