Ambassadors of Belarus, Guatemala discuss cooperation development

MOSCOW, 5 May (BelTA) – The development of the legal base of Belarusian-Guatemalan cooperation was discussed during the meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Guatemala to Russia with concurrent accreditation to Belarus Herbert Estuardo Meneses Coronado in Moscow on 5 May, the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission told BelTA.

The sides discussed the state and prospects of development of Belarusian-Guatemalan relations in various spheres. Close attention was paid to the development of the legal base of bilateral cooperation, including the signing of the agreement between the Belarus government and the Guatemala government on the mutual lifting of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, official and/or service passports.

Belarus-Guatemala diplomatic relations were established on 11 March 1993. In 2015 bilateral trade exceeded $10 million, with Belarus' foreign trade surplus exceeding $8 million.
