Ambassador: Dynamics in Belarus-Austria economic dialogue is very high

VIENNA, 30 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Austrian economic dialogue is highly dynamic, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Austria, Belarus' Permanent Representative to the OSCE Alena Kupchyna said at the 14th meeting of the Belarusian-Austrian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation on 30 January, BelTA informs.

“Today we can take note of a significant increase in bilateral trade. In our opinion, this was due to the growth of the Belarusian and Austrian economies and the revival of the economic situation in the Central and Eastern European region and also thanks to the active work of the government institutions and business communities of the two countries. It would be also appropriate to take note of the contribution of our commission that suggests promising areas of cooperation, works out solutions to remove barriers in bilateral trade and to settle specific issues,” Alena Kupchyna said.

The diplomat stressed the importance of the fact that virtually all agreements reached during the previous meeting have been fulfilled or are being implemented. “This applies to the organization of a series of specific activities and visits, including within the framework of Austria's OSCE chairmanship and Belarus' presidency in the CEI, the interaction between individual organizations and companies of the two countries, exchange of information on these or those issues,” Alena Kupchyna noted.

In confirmation of the high dynamics of the Belarusian-Austrian economic dialogue, the diplomat cited several examples. Meetings of the intergovernmental commission and the working group “Environmental protection and environmental technology” have become regular. So have the trilateral economic forums “Austria-Belarus-Russia”. Belarus and Austria have established active contacts in the course of numerous events both on the bilateral basis and also on the multilateral track.

“We also welcome the fact that the 3rd session of the Belarusian-Austrian Business Council will be co-located with the meeting of the intergovernmental commission. We are confident that the activities to be held tomorrow will also make a significant contribution to the development of contacts between the business communities of the two countries,” Belarus' ambassador said.
