Mount Mayon, the most active volcano in the Philippines, has exploded.
Lava fountains shot up to 700m into the air above the volcano which ejected plumes of ash up to 3km.
The local authorities raised the alert level for the Mayon volcano from level three to level four. The evacuation zone was expanded to eight kilometers. Over 30,000 people are staying in the temporary evacuation centers provided by the local government.
The volcano is located in Albay province, 340km away from Manila, the capital of the Philippines.
