CAREER Chief agronomist, deputy head and head of the Lenin collective farm in Zhitkovichi District, Gomel Oblast in 1977-1983. Head of the agriculture department of the Korma District Executive Committee, Gomel Oblast, in 1983-1985. Active party member since 1985.
Chairman of the committee on land reforms and land management of the Council of Ministers in 1991-1994. Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus in 1994-2001. Agriculture and Food Minister in 2001-2003. Advisor at the Saint Petersburg branch of the Belarusian Embassy in the Russian Federation in 2003-2004. Appointed Chairman of the Permanent Commission for Agriculture of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly in 2004. Appointed Chairman of the Permanent Commission for Chernobyl, Environment and Environmental Management of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly in 2008. Appointed Minister of Agriculture and Food in 2010.
