CAREER Started out as an engineer of the technical department of Minskproyekt Institute in 1972. Active army service in 1972-1973. An engineer of the water supply station Drazhnya, head of the manufacturing and technology department of the Water Supply Construction Directorate in 1973-1974. Chief engineer of the Water Supply Construction Directorate, chief engineer of the Water Services Construction Directorate of the Minsk city water company Minskvodokanal. Chief engineer, head of the municipal services office of the Minsk City Executive Committee in 1977-1983. Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sovetsky District Council of People's Deputies, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Minsk City Council of People's Deputies in 1983-1985.
Secretary of the Minsk City Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus in 1985-1986. BSSR Utilities Minister in 1986-1990.
