Two dead in fire in arsenal ordnance factory in Bulgaria

Kazanluk, 15 March (BelTA - BTA) - Two man worker died in a fire in the Arsenal ordnance factory on Wednesday. The company said that the incident occurred around 10:20 am in one of the plant's workshops. 

The victims are identified with his initials, Ts. V. and K. Zh. K. Zh. were rushed to the local hospital and then moved to the hospital in nearby Stara Zagora to be treated for his burns. 

Nobody else was injured in the fire but material damage is reported in the workshop where it broke out. The rest of the workers were evacuated from the factory. 

The fire, believed to have been caused by a chemical reaction, was quickly put down but the area remains sealed. 

Interior Minister Valentin Radev told reporters in Parliament that the fire was started as a result of a breach of technological discipline. He said that the workshop where the fire occurred, was unmanned and its machines were remotely operated, and the two workers were not supposed to be there. 

The prosecution office has ordered several probes at Arsenal in the wake of the incident. Two investigators and the District Prosecutor are at the site of the incident.
