Victory Day in Belarus in pictures

Victory Day is celebrated in Belarus today. It is a sacred holiday for Belarus, a tribute of remembrance, profound respect and gratitude to Soviet soldiers, homefront workers, and underground resistance fighters, to all those, who made the victory possible.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko took part in the solemn events arranged on the occasion of Victory Day. The head of state laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in presence of Great Patriotic War veterans, top government officials, heads of government agencies, representatives of youth organizations and children organizations, public associations.

Victory Day celebrations in Vitebsk

A parade and a solemn rally timed to the 71st anniversary of the Soviet nation's victory in the Great Patriotic War began the festivities on the occasion of Victory Day in Mogilev.

Over 8,000 people took part in the celebratory parade in Gomel on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the great victory.

Over 1,500 residents of Grodno Oblast joined the action “We will always remember their names…” In Grodno and all the districts of the oblast people formed up into columns to carry portraits of their relatives that have taken part in the Great Patriotic War.

Over 30,000 people took part in the solemn open-air rally dedicated to the 71st anniversary of the Soviet nation's victory in the Great Patriotic War in the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial.

Folk celebrations and entertainment programs timed to Victory Day were seen in all parts of Minsk on 9 May.

The Proryv Memorial Complex in Ushachi District was solemnly re-opened on 9 May after reconstruction and restoration.
