On 19 August, Orthodox Christians celebrated the Savior of the Apple Feast Day, an Eastern Slavic folk holiday, falling on the Feast of the Transfiguration. The holiday has a pre-Christian origin and is associated with harvesting of ripe fruits, especially apples. It is the most important of the three Savior days. The others are: honey savior, on 14 August; and nut savior on 29 August 29.
