The official countdown to the New Year and Christmas celebrations in Minsk is already underway as the festive illuminations lit up the Belarusian capital on 15 December. The city will have its Christmas illuminations till 14 January (the Old New Year). The illuminations will be switched on from the moment the street lights are on till 23:00 in the evening and from 6:00 till the street lights are off in the morning.
By tradition, on 24-25 December, 31 December, and 6-7 January and 13 January the city will be illuminated during the whole night.
