A “supermoon”, a stunning natural phenomenon, rose in the night sky for the last time this year.
On Tuesday night, skywatchers could see December's full moon, the third and final supermoon of 2016. Supermoons can shine much brighter than a regular full moon. This time the supermoon reached its peak at 3.00am.
The Geminid meteor shower took place at the same time, streaking across the sky. However, the meteors could not be seen easily as they happened to be in a darker sky.
