A campaign to elect members of the 28th convocation municipal councils of deputies took place in Belarus on 18 February. As many as 22,200 people stood as candidates, vying for slightly more than 18,000 seats in the local councils of deputies. As many as 5,870 polling stations were set up to take the nation's votes, including 250 ones in sanatoriums, health resorts, hospitals, and other in-patient healthcare institutions. As many as 17 polling stations were opened in units of the Belarusian army. As many as 6,929,525 Belarusians were on the voter lists.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko cast his vote at polling station No.1 in Vesnyansky electoral district No.39 in Minsk's Tsentralny District. The polling station is located at premises of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.

Young Belarusians, who cast their votes for the first time, could go on a sightseeing trip aboard a Mi-2 helicopter in Senitsa, Minsk District. The helicopter was fitted with a banner encouraging Belarusians to cast their votes.
