MINSK, 25 August (BelTA) – The number of enterprises listed by the joint project launched by the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus (NAIP) and the World Bank to support privatization will be increased, the Agency's press service told BelTA.
BelTA has been told that the World Bank-NAIP agreement on attracting investors to Belarusian state-run enterprises was extended in August by two years. The project has been going on since 2011.
Eight companies were initially chosen for the pilot privatization project. Those are Baranovichi Reinforced Concrete Products Plant, Belsantechmontazh-2, Avtomagistral, the civil engineering enterprise SMT No. 8, Medplast, Konfa, and Minsk Margarine Plant.
Now NAIP would like to add more enterprises to the list. The agency's authority within the framework of the grant has been broadened as well. In particular, there are plans to use not only standard privatization but other ways to attract investors, including additional emission and the establishment of joint ventures.
The list of enterprises to be added to the initial list is supposed to be approved within the next few months.
