Working group starts amending Belarus' Tax Code

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – A working group has started amending the Tax Code of Belarus, BelTA learned from Belarusian Tax and Duties Minister Sergei Nalivaiko on 18 January.

The work is being down following the head of state's instruction to rework the Tax Code.

“Work has begun to put together a new Tax Code. A working group led by First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Matyushevsky has been set up. The work is already in progress. It is not simple and it is intense,” noted Sergei Nalivaiko. “I think the team will finish the work on time. Representatives of the private sector and business associations are taking part in the work”.

Speaking about new taxes, the official reminded that a tax moratorium is in effect in Belarus. “No doubt, it will be observed. We would like the tax service to be seen only in positive light. The Tax and Duties Ministry has been long in favor of increasing neither the number of taxes nor tax rates,” stressed Sergei Nalivaiko.

BelTA reported earlier that the draft comprehensive amendments of the Tax Code are supposed to be ready by 1 September 2018.
