Vitebsk Engine Repair Plant to create dealership on Sakhalin

VITEBSK, 20 January (BelTA) – OAO Vitebsk Engine Repair Plant extends shipments to Russia and intends to create a dealership on Sakhalin, director of the plant Viktor Masalov told reporters.

Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov visited the plant as part of his working visit to Vitebsk Oblast.

"The plant has done a lot to keep afloat. Despite the fact that our focus is on repairs, the manufacturing now exceeds the volume of repairs. This is what helped us. Now there are no problems with the payment of wages and other payments,” Viktor Masalov said. “We mainly work with agricultural producers of Vitebsk Oblast selling them more than 90% of our output. But we also try to advance to foreign markets: we had some sales in Russia last year. In January this year we sold a batch of spare parts to Russian consumers. Now we are exploring the markets of Turkmenistan and Armenia, and are in talks with a Sakhalin firm to open our dealership there. We hope this will help up boost exports,” Viktor Masalov noted.

OAO Vitebsk Engine Repair Plant holds leading positions among Belarusian enterprises repairing engines, components and devices for trucks and tractors. The plant was founded on 31 January 1968. The plant began producing agricultural machinery in 2000 and metal structures for the livestock industry in 2012.

The Prime Minister is set to visit the agricultural company Mazolovogas which is part of the Vitebskoblgas company. The company operates a research and practical center for cattle breeding and milk production. The issues to be discussed will be innovative technologies of animal feeding, pedigree cattle production and milk production.
