Viktor Khristenko appointed President of EEU Business Council

MOSCOW, 25 May (BelTA) – Former Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Viktor Khristenko has been appointed President of the Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). The decision of his appointment was taken at the second meeting of the Council in Astana on 24 May, BelTA learnt from the EEC press service.

Viktor Khristenko headed the Eurasian Economic Commission from 2012 to 2015. “Viktor Khristenko's appointment to the post of the President of the EEU Business Council will give an additional impetus to the development of all-round cooperation between the business communities of the Union's member states. The Business Council will be used by the EEU business community as an efficient instrument to inform the authorized government bodies and the EEC about business issues and find mutually acceptable solutions,” the press service said.

The main objectives of the Business Council include the elaboration of the coordinated position and a dialogue between business circles of the Union's member states, establishment of direct ties, assistance to the development of trade and economic relations, industrial and financial cooperation in the EEU, participation in the implementation of projects in various economic sectors of the EEU member states.

The Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Union is a standing coordination and consultative body of the EEU business circles. The Council includes the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (Employers) of Armenia, the Confederation of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (Employers) of Belarus, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Kyrgyzstan, and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
