Ukrtransnafta resumes oil transit to European Union

MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) – The Ukrainian oil pipeline operating company Ukrtransnafta resumed the reception of Russian oil at the line operation dispatcher station Mozyr on 21 May in order to further transport oil towards European consumers, BelTA has learned.

The oil custody transfer station Fenyeslitke (Hungary) has confirmed its readiness to receive oil. This is why Ukrtransnafta has resumed oil transit to Hungarian consumers.

The oil pipeline system Druzhba delivers oil to Belarusian oil refineries and enables oil transit to Europe via Belarus in two directions – across Poland and Ukraine. On 24 April Poland stopped oil transit via the Druzhba oil pipeline system for an indefinite period of time. On 25 April Ukraine did the same and resumed transit later on only to stop due to the lack of reservoir capacity in the Ukrainian territory for draining polluted oil from the oil pipeline.

On 19 April Belneftekhim registered a massive decrease in the quality of the Russian oil mixture Urals flowing in transit into the main oil pipeline section operated by OAO Polotsktransneft Druzhba. The concentration of chlororganic compounds in oil exceeded standard thresholds dozens of times over. Both Belarusian oil refineries – OAO Naftan and Mozyr Oil Refinery – have been forced to reduce their workload and have experienced financial losses. The workload of OAO Naftan is still reduced.
