Ukraine imports two thirds of gasoline, diesel fuel from Belarus

MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) – In H1 2016 Belarus was the leading supplier of gasoline and diesel fuel to Ukraine, BelTA learned from Sergei Grib, Deputy Director General of Belarusian Oil Company, during the international conference held on 22 September to discuss production, wholesale and retail trade on the Belarusian market of oil products and natural gas.

Ukraine imported 2,016,000 tonnes of gasoline and diesel fuel (69% of the total import) from Belarus. Belarusian Oil Company sold 1,991,000 tonnes of the volume. Last year Belarus' share in Ukraine's import was 46%, with the share of Belarusian Oil Company at 36%. Belarus accounted for 83% of the gasoline Ukraine imported, with the share of Belarusian Oil Company at 82%. Belarus sold 65% of the diesel fuel Ukraine imported, with the share of Belarusian Oil Company at 64%.

According to Sergei Grib, it is the best result secured by Belarusian Oil Company in nearby markets over the last few years. He attributed the accomplishments to the company's division in Ukraine and to the oil refineries that supply quality products that have attracted more customers.

Belarusian Oil Company is busy building a chain of proprietary refueling stations in Ukraine, with three stations built so far, in addition to developing shipping services. According to Sergei Grib, in September-October 2016 Belarusian Oil Company intends to call a tender to sign a long-term contract on selling diesel fuel made by Mozyr Oil Refinery.
