Turkey keen to open bank in Belarus

MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Turkey plans to open a bank in Belarus, Turkish Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs Veysel Eroglu told the media following the 9th plenary session of the Belarusian-Turkish intergovernmental economic commission in Minsk on 27 July, BelTA has learned.

“The work to open a Turkish bank in Belarus is underway,” the minister said.

According to Veysel Eroglu, the sides are finalizing an agreement on mutual protection of investments. Turkey attaches great importance to this document, Veysel Eroglu noted.

For his part, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei stressed that bilateral credit-financial infrastructure needs improvement. “We are very interested in having a Turkish bank in Minsk,” he underlined.

All the agreements reached at the session were set forth in the final protocol. The sides agreed to strictly control their implementation.
