Tax increases on hold, new taxes shelved in Belarus till 2020

MINSK, 23 November (BelTA) – Current taxes will not be raised and no new taxes will be introduced in Belarus till 2020. The provisions are stipulated by Ordinance No.7 “On entrepreneurship development”, which the head of state signed on 23 November, BelTA learned from the national legal information website pravo.by.

The ordinance prohibits raising tax rates and introducing new taxes, fees, and duties till 2020.

Commercial entities, which retail their products online, will be able to use the simplified taxation scheme as from 1 January 2018.

The authorities will not be able to collect taxes from commercial entities if the demand to pay taxes is not sent within five years of the deadline. If the inspected period exceeds five years in line with the law, if the commercial entity in question submits a reviewed tax declaration, then taxes will be collected.

Technical regulations, which are now mandatory for Belarusian commercial entities, will have to pass expert evaluation for conformance with resolutions and legal acts of the Council of Ministers. The expert evaluation will be carried out by the National Legal Information Center. Then the technical regulations will be entered into the national registry of legal acts and published on the national legal information website pravo.by.

Within three months the Council of Ministers will have to work out guidelines on running the most popular types of business and place them on the digital services web portal and the website of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization. The list of types of architectural, town planning, and construction activities (their components), which are performed by commercial entities if they have conformance certificates, will have to be reduced within three months.
