Tangible effect from financial rehabilitation of Belarusian agricultural enterprises soon

NOVOGRUDOK DISTRICT, 21 October (BelTA) – Results of the efforts to financially rehabilitate Belarusian agricultural enterprises will become tangible very soon, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov on 21 October. The Prime Minister went on a working trip to Novogrudok District, Grodno Oblast on that day.

A large number of matters concerning the financial rehabilitation of Grodno Oblast agricultural enterprises were discussed with participation of the Prime Minister. Andrei Kobyakov was informed about the work on implementing the presidential decrees on measures to financially rehabilitate agricultural enterprises and on the establishment and operation of the public joint-stock company Asset Management Agency.

The Prime Minister said: “We are in the advanced stage of implementing these documents. Today's discussion indicates that not all the matters were properly accounted for. Minor matters that need to be adjusted were mentioned. But we understand that we are moving in the right direction. There is understanding at the local level. Thanks to the measures that have been taken we will be able to seriously improve the health of agricultural enterprises and — as the next step — the enterprises that process agricultural products. I think we will feel the effect within the next few months.”

Andrei Kobyakov noted that during the discussion in Grodno Oblast on 21 October adjustments were made to how the presidential decrees are being implemented and the relevant instructions were given.

Andrei Kobyakov was also made familiar with the operation of enterprises in Novogrudok District. There are some problems with the social and economic development of the district. First of all, some of the local enterprises are in need of financial rehabilitation. Cost-effective work is necessary. Among other enterprises the Prime Minister visited the Novogrudok gas equipment factory Novogas and the joint venture Leor Plastic. He described the two companies as a fine example that demonstrates the importance of timely retooling and reconstruction, cost-effective management, efforts to develop production and penetrate new target markets. The gas equipment factory now uses modern automated manufacturing lines that have increased the annual output to over $60,000 per employee. The figure reflects well on the salaries. Last year Leor Plastic encountered certain restrictions on access to the Russian market. Yet the company's management acted fast to recover its market position. Other companies should bear the example of the flagships in mind and should make relevant conclusions, stressed Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov.
