Strong interest in Belarusian timber harvesters in Russia's Republic of Karelia

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) – Timber harvesting enterprises of Russia's Republic of Karelia are considering the possibility of buying Belarusian machines. Terms and the timeframe of deliveries were discussed as a delegation visited enterprises of the Belarusian mechanical engineering industrial group Amkodor, BelTA has learned.

The Russian delegation was made familiar with how such machines are made at the enterprise Amkodor Logoisk. The delegation also saw harvesters and forwarders in action in the Logoisk forestry enterprise. The delegation also visited OOO Saleo, which makes hydraulic systems and their components.

The delegation included representatives of OOO Karellestrans. The company harvests a lot of timber (700,000 tonnes last year) and needs mechanized solutions as part of the business. The guests mentioned the good performance of the Belarusian machines and ease of operation. The fact that the enterprise OOO Amkodor Onego is about to start making various machines in Karelia's capital city of Petrozavodsk is another positive factor because it will offer an aftersales service and maintenance center in the region.

The Belarusian industrial group Amkodor unites 30 enterprises that make over 120 models and modifications of machines and vehicles for agribusiness, road construction, housing and utilities industry, forestry industry, manufacturing sector, and logistics. OOO Amkodor Onego was registered on 31 August 2018. It acquired the Onega tractor plant in March 2019 and made the first preproduction forwarder in July 2019.
