Stadler Minsk to produce 23 trams for St Petersburg

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – ZAO Stadler Minsk is set to supply 23 trams to St Petersburg, Stadler Minsk Deputy CEO Aleksei Kovetsky told BelTA.

In his words, the first batch of six trams will be delivered to St Petersburg in the near future.

The three-carriage tram, designed for 376 seats and more than 33m long, is currently being tested in Minsk. “This is a low-floor bidirectional tram, fitted with an air conditioning system and doors on either side,” Aleksei Kovetsky said. This tram is unmatched in the Custom Union, he added.

The plant in Fanipol is currently producing the double-decker trains for Moscow, and also the bodyshells for Flirt trains for the Norwegian State Railways. Stadler has also won a tender to supply trams to Ostrava (Czech Republic).

ZAO Stadler Minsk is part of Stadler Rail Group. The assembly plant in Fanipol near Minsk supplies the CIS countries with the latest rolling stock. Stadler Minsk occupies the area of almost 190,000 sq.m., including 35,000 sq.m. of production space in Fanipol. Maximum capacity is 120 rail cars per year.
