Solid commercial cooperation between China, Belarus' Academy of Sciences

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) – The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) is carrying out projects worth over $4 million for Chinese partners in line with the relevant contracts. Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov made the relevant statement in his speech during the second Belarusian-Chinese human sciences forum in Minsk on 15 June, BelTA has learned. The forum is focused on discussing problems of coupling the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Eurasian Economic Union.

According to Vladimir Gusakov, Belarus' Academy of Sciences places special emphasis on scientific cooperation with the People's Republic of China. “We have established solid scientific and technological ties and strategic relations with many scientific organizations of China. The NASB is carrying out projects worth over $4 million together with Chinese partners on the basis of contracts,” he said.

Vladimir Gusakov reminded that the first forum took place in Beijing on 4 September 2015 and laid the foundation for cooperation in this format. This year's forum heralds the formation of a new tradition in Belarusian-Chinese human sciences cooperation, believes the official.

In his words, cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences through the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research develops successfully. Belarusian humanitarian scholars and their partners from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences lead four research projects.

Apart from researching problems and prospects of advancing joint economic projects from every angle opportunities for implementing scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation have been demonstrated. “Yet we believe that the potential for Belarus-China cooperation is far from being exhausted. It is important for us to suggest new ideas and develop creative forms of interaction,” said Vladimir Gusakov.

The official stressed that the forum's theme is a priority for both countries. “Today's forum can give answers to many topical and high-priority questions in interaction between the two integration projects. It can also determine prospects of using the Eurasian Economic Union's potential for building the Silk Road Economic Belt,” summed up Vladimir Gusakov.

The second Belarusian-Chinese human sciences forum on problems of coupling the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Eurasian Economic Union is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 15-16 June. The purpose of the forum is to expand and advance Belarus-China human sciences cooperation by stepping up the exchange of knowledge between Belarusian and Chinese scientists in the context of development of theoretical and practical measures in favor of coupling interests and potentials of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Eurasian Economic Union.
