Slovak businessmen to build woodworking enterprise in Brest Oblast

BREST, 22 April (BelTA) – Slovak businessmen will build a woodworking enterprise in Brest Oblast, BelTA learned from Brest Oblast Governor Anatoly Lis during the international forum of business contacts Brest 2016 on 22 April.

The Brest Oblast Governor said: “The events held as part of the forum have already produced certain results. With assistance of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovakia Jozef Migas negotiations were held and an agreement was reached with a Slovakian company on building a woodworking enterprise in our region. Agreements on other projects have been reached as well. Negotiations have been held with Swedish investors to discuss capital investments in three Brest Oblast enterprises, primarily those specializing in civil engineering. For instance, those are the Brest construction materials factory and OAO Modul in Gantsevichi District.”

Polish investors expressed interest in buying a manufacturing site in Zhabinka District. Plans have been made to set up and develop a major logistics hub over there. About €15 million will be poured into the project.

The Brest Oblast Governor said he was confident that the forum of business contacts will allow expanding cooperation between countries and regions. “Investment policy is a strategic vector of our economy. I hope that the ongoing events will help potential investors to find their bearings with regard to priority areas of investment in the Brest Oblast economy,” stressed Anatoly Lis.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming delivered a welcome address to participants of the Brest 2016 forum. “China and Belarus are good friends and partners. Our relations develop dynamically and steadily. Hubei Province has a great interest in cooperation with Brest Oblast. The regions are expected to exchange visits of delegations this year. Apart from that, Qinghai Province demonstrates interest in cooperation and I am glad it does. But apart from economic relations Belarus and China have close ties in the sphere of education and culture,” noted the diplomat.

Representatives of over 30 countries took part in the events held under the aegis of the forum in Brest.
