Semashko: Manufacturing drives economic recovery in Belarus

MINSK, 30 June (BelTA) – Manufacturing powers the recovery of GDP growth in Belarus, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said at a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus in Minsk on 30 June, BelTA has learned.

The Vice Premier noted that the macroeconomic stabilization measures adopted in late 2015 and early 2016 are bearing fruit.

In January-May this year, the GDP added 1.5%. “Manufacturing is driving the recovery of the GDP growth in Belarus. The industrial output made up 98.1% in January-May having added 4.9% since January,” Vladimir Semashko noted.

The Vice Premier pointed out that Belarusian industry shows higher growth rates month-on-month as compared with the Eurasian Economic Union partners.
