Semashko: Belarus, Russia agree on $1bn loan

MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia have agreed on a new loan of approximately $1 billion, Belarus' Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko said in an interview to the ONT Channel on 9 April.

Vladimir Semashko commented on some of the results of the talks between the Belarusian and Russian presidents in Saint Petersburg on 3 April. The meeting of Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin resulted in the reopening of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development credit line.

“Belarus will get the third and fourth tranches, each amounting to $300 million, a total of $600 million a year, on very favorable terms, at low interest rates and so on. An instruction was also made to allocate an additional loan of some $1 billion on favorable terms,” said Vladimir Semashko.
