SCO Heads of Government Council to discuss cooperation in Sochi

SOCHI, 1 December (BelTA) – The strengthening of trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be discussed at the meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council in Sochi on 1 December, BelTA has learned.

It will be the first meeting with the participation of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan and also new SCO member states India and Pakistan that joined the organization in June 2017. Taking part in the meeting will be delegations of the SCO observer states – Belarus, Iran, Mongolia and Afghanistan, representatives of international organizations. The Belarusian delegation will be led by Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov.

The summit will focus on further promotion and expansion of trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation in SCO. Special attention will be paid to the development of cooperation in trade and investment, infrastructure, transport, energy, and agriculture.

The participants of the summit are expected to sign an agreement on the SCO budget formation and performance, and also adopt the decisions on the activity of the organization. The states' coordinated approaches will be included into the joint communique.
