Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast interested in making electrobuses together with Belarus

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast is interested in cooperation with the Belarusian mechanical engineering company Belkommunmash with a view to making electrobuses, representatives of the Sverdlovsk Oblast government told BelTA.

Sverdlovsk Oblast Governor Yevgeny Kuivashev is in Minsk on a working visit. Belkommunmash is one of the leading manufacturers of electric ground transport in the CIS states. During the tour of the company the sides discussed possible shipments and the use of electrobuses for urban transportation in the Middle Urals region. Prospects of starting the production of such electrobuses in the region were also discussed.

Yevgeny Kuivashev said: “We need such wireless vehicles. It is much easier to build mass transit routes using such vehicles. I've suggested that Belkommunmash should localize part of the electrobus production in Sverdlovsk Oblast. Since we make various kinds of rolling stock in the region, we will acquire a new competence like that. Today's agreements are just the beginning. We will put more work into the project's implementation.”

The Sverdlovsk Oblast governor took a ride on an E433 Vitovt Max Electro electrobus. He spoke in glowing terms about the quality of the vehicle.

The electrobus combines the advantages of the trolleybus and the bus. An electrobus relies on accumulating electric energy in super capacitors in order to travel for up to 15km without overhead wires. An electrobus needs five minutes to get charged at a terminus.
