Russia's Ivanovo Oblast to import Belarusian buses, trolleybuses, tractors

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Russia's Ivanovo Oblast expects that Belarus will help it update the fleet of public transport and tractors, Governor of Ivanovo Oblast Pavel Konkov said as he met with State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota on 22 May, BelTA has learned.

According to the governor, Ivanovo Oblast needs to upgrade a significant part of its fleet of buses and trolleybuses. The Belarusian side offers these vehicles at an affordable price. As for the agricultural equipment, the farmers of Ivanovo Oblast traditionally use Belarus tractors and do not plan to change these preferences.

Pavel Konkov recalled that in 2016 he paid a visit to Minsk and reached a number of agreements on further promotion of cooperation. “We will stick to this agreement and keep on implementing it,” the governor underlined.

According to Pavel Konkov, the sides have mutual interest in various fields, including textile industry. He also stressed that Belarusian food and light industry products are in demand in Ivanovo Oblast.

The governor pointed out that the trade between Belarus and Ivanovo Oblast has recently started to gain momentum. In 2016 the trade totaled $85 million. The Belarusian export accounted for $66 million, export $19 million.

“Belarus and Ivanovo Oblast do not have any contradictions,” Pavel Konkov summarized.

Grigory Rapota and Pavel Konkov met with Belarusian and Russian journalists during the press tour to Ivanovo Oblast organized by the Permanent Committee of the Belarus-Russia Union State and the international media outlet Russia Today.
