Russia's Chelyabinsk interested in Brest's experience in utility sector

BREST, 13 December (BelTA) – Russia's Chelyabinsk is eager to explore Brest's experience in the housing and utilities sector, Deputy Chelyabinsk Mayor Yuri Paranichev noted at a meeting in the Brest City Hall on 13 December, BelTA learned from the Brest City Hall.

A Chelyabinsk Oblast delegation is in Belarus on a visit. Yuri Paranichev met with Brest Mayor Alexander Rogachuk to discuss urban beautification. Yuri Paranichev noted that he is in charge of housing and utilities services and environmental protection, this is why he is especially interested in Brest's experience in this field. This applies to road infrastructure, regulating the transport network, cleaning up communities, parks, and garden squares.

“We have an interest in a wide range of matters, from economic to cultural ones. We understand which direction we should take. This means that the results will come quickly,” Yuri Paranichev said. He added that the construction of a waste recycling plant will soon begin in Chelyabinsk. In this regard, municipal solid waste management remains a relevant issue for the big industrial city. Yuri Paranichev learned more about the work of the Brest Waste Recycling Plant. He also went on a tour around the city and visited the Brest Fortress Memorial.

Brest-Chelyabinsk Oblast trade reached $5 million in January-September, 111% as against the same period a year prior. Brest-based companies exported $4.9 million worth of products to the region. Brest manufacturers also delivered food products, heating and cooking stoves, electric boilers, furniture, carpets, and incandescent lamps. Chelyabinsk Oblast exported ferrous metals, electric cars, and equipment.
