Russian turbines for reconstructing cogeneration plants in Grodno, Minsk

MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – The Russian company Ural Turbine Works will help reconstruct cogeneration plants in Grodno and Minsk, BelTA learned from Alexei Orlov, First Vice Governor of Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast, in Minsk on 27 February.

In his words, the company is already making a turbine for Grodno cogeneration plant No.2. There are plans to sign a contract on delivering a turbine for reconstructing Minsk cogeneration plant No.3 during the visit. The equipment is supposed to be delivered in 2018. “The turbines will also require aftersales service. We are going to talk about it during the negotiations, too,” specified Alexei Orlov.

Belarusian Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk noted that the energy equipment made by companies residing in Sverdlovsk Oblast have been used by many Belarusian enterprises for many years. A number of industrial enterprises from the Russian region supply equipment for the Belarusian nuclear power plant. “At present turbines made by Ural Turbine Works account for over 50% of all the turbines in use in Belarus. The equipment has proved its reliability. The company recently presented a new generation of turbines. We intend to use them in the future as part of the reconstruction of Belarusian power grid installations, for instance, Minsk cogeneration plant No.5,” noted Mikhail Mikhadyuk. In turn, Belarus is ready to share its experience of peat industry development with Sverdlovsk Oblast.

Sverdlovsk Oblast is also ready to advance mutually beneficial cooperation in other spheres. Promising projects will be discussed when a Belarusian delegation visits the international industrial expo Innoprom that will take place in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast in July.

Alexei Orlov added: “We have great plans concerning not only power engineering and production sector but culture as well. Proposals in favor of erecting a monument to the renowned musician Vladimir Mulyavin in Minsk have been voiced. We hope that the Belarusian side will back this proposal.”

A delegation of Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast is in Belarus on a visit on 26 February — 1 March. Members of the delegation are expected to meet with representatives of the Belarusian government, the Energy Ministry, the Healthcare Ministry, the Industry Ministry, the Sports and Tourism Ministry, and the National Tourism Agency. A business matchmaking session for companies from Sverdlovsk Oblast and Belarus will be arranged. A session of the working group of the Belarusian Industry Ministry and the Sverdlovsk Oblast government will take place. Representatives of the Russian region are expected to go on a tour of Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark), the mechanical engineering company Amkodor, and the agricultural holding company Zhdanovichi.
