Russia to resume oil delivery to Belarus in full on 21 October

UFA, 21 October (BelTA-TASS) – The volume of Russian oil delivery to Belarus will be restored on Friday, 21 October, BelTA learned from Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik.

“The volume [of oil delivery] will be restored in full today,” said the Belarusian Energy Minister.

Vladimir Potupchik was quoted earlier as saying that on 21 October Belarus would pay arrears for the natural gas Russia has delivered.

On 17 October Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak stated that Russia and Belarus had managed to find a solution with regard to natural gas prices. The official reminded that Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Arkady Dvorkovich and Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko had earlier signed a protocol on regulating terms of Belarusian-Russian relations in matters concerning energy resources. The sides had agreed that Belarus would rescind its decision to raise tariffs on Russian oil transit while Russia would restore the volume of oil delivery to Belarus. Belarus was also supposed to pay arrears for the natural gas Russia had delivered.

In mid-October 2016 Igor Demin, a spokesman for the Russian company Transneft, which is in charge of transporting Russian oil and oil products in Russia and the CIS states, stated that the amount of Russian oil Belarus will get in Q4 2016 will be raised to 5 million tonnes.
