Revised Belarus' GDP 3.4% down in H1 2015

MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – According to the second estimation, in H1 2015 Belarus' gross domestic product (GDP) shrank by 3.4% in comparison with H1 2014 to total Br399,108.7 billion, representatives of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

According to the second estimation, in Q2 2015 the GDP totaled Br207.2 trillion (4.5% down from Q2 2014 in comparable prices). In Q1 2015 Belarus' GDP stood at Br191.9 trillion, 2.1% down.

The source specified that the second estimate relies on three methods: the production method, the use of income method, and the method based on GDP replenishment per sources of income. The renewed data has been drawn from statistical surveys of corporations and households, the Finance Ministry's report on the state budget execution, the central bank's updated data on the balance of payments, and administrative data.

Specialists explained that the previous GDP estimation was a preliminary one since it was based on fresh statistic surveys, expert evaluations, and indirect calculations.
