Regulatory capital of Belarusian banks 6.8% up in January-October

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – As of 1 November 2016 the regulatory capital of Belarusian banks totaled Br8.38 billion, up Br534.6 million or 6.8% since the beginning of the year, BelTA learned from the latest statistics report released by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

The sufficiency level of the regulatory capital in the Belarusian banking industry stood at 18.2% as of 1 November, down from 18.7% as of 1 January, while the law requires at least 10%. As of 1 November 2015 the sufficiency level of the regulatory capital was 19.5%.

The total registered charter capital of Belarusian banks amounted to Br4.713 billion as of 1 November 2016, up Br228.7 million since the beginning of the year.

As of 1 November assets of Belarusian banks totaled Br63.491 billion, 0.7% up since the beginning of the year. The share of assets in foreign currency dropped from 62.1% as of 1 January to 61.5% as of 1 November. The share of loans granted to commercial entities and natural persons in the bank assets stood at 64.9% as of 1 November, down from 66% as of 1 January 2016.

As of 1 November 2016 there were 29 banks and three non-banking credit and finance organizations, including five banks going through bankruptcy or liquidation procedures. Foreign capital was present in 20 banks and non-banking credit and finance organizations. The share of foreign investments in the charter capital of 14 banks exceeded 50%.
