Regional ties seen as driving force for Belarus-Saint Petersburg partnership

MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) - Interregional interaction can become a driving force for the development of the partnership between Belarus and Saint Petersburg, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said when speaking at the ninth meeting of the Belarus-Saint Petersburg Business Cooperation Council which is running today in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

According to the Prime Minister, the Days of Saint Petersburg in Minsk showed that the parties have a high interest in strengthening interregional contacts. “I believe that the interregional interaction can serve as a driving force for our partnership,” the Belarusian Prime Minister said.

The meeting of the Business Cooperation Council has opened up new opportunities for such interaction. “Our meetings have proved to be an effective platform for the development of strategic interaction. Interregional ties make the foundation of the Belarusian-Russian cooperation. Saint Petersburg is our longtime partner,” Andrei Kobyakov said. He invited the participants of the meeting and the Governor of Saint Petersburg for a frank and constructive discussion of the current issues of bilateral cooperation.
