Reducing trade barriers among Belarus' priorities

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – Belarus has been working to reduce trade barriers, First Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Matyushevsky said at the joint meeting of the two chambers of the Belarusian parliament on 27 May, BelTA has learned.

“Export is the key to the Belarusian economic growth. The country is reducing trade barriers by signing corresponding agreements,” noted Vasily Matyushevsky.

In his words, a free trade agreement with Vietnam has already been concluded. “There are good prospects for signing free trade agreements with India, Egypt, and Iran,” said the First Vice Premier.

Vasily Matyushevsky said that work is underway to advance high-technology products to neighboring markets through foreign assembly plants. In April 2016 the government approved a new document on the rules of providing export loans to non-residents by the Bank of Development. The government also compiled a list of industrial investment goods that will be advanced with the help of this instrument.
