Real cash earnings of Belarusians expected to rise by 3.4% in 2019

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Real disposable cash earnings are expected to grow by 3.4% in 2019. The figure was mentioned by Belarusian Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky as he presented the concept of the document designed to guide the country's social and economic development in 2019 and till 2021 during the session of the Council of Ministers' Presidium on 12 June, the Economy Ministry press service told BelTA.

According to Vladimir Zinovsky, increasing the number of working Belarusians is one of the main tasks for the next year. Systemic employment assistance efforts and the establishment of new enterprises are crucial to accomplishing the task. In turn, the establishment of new enterprises should be facilitated by the measures the government takes to improve the investment climate and the business climate. Vladimir Zinovsky mentioned an increase in incomes of individuals as another priority. “In 2019 the growth rate of the real disposable cash earnings is expected to reach 103.4%. The calculations have been made taking into account salary growth commensurate with the growth of labor productivity in 2019,” he remarked.

The concept of the next year's social and economic development forecast has been reviewed several times by the interagency working group led by First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Matyushevsky. In line with the target scenario the Economy Ministry expects the GDP growth rate to reach 104.1% in 2019, above the expected world's average of 103.9%.

The economy minister explained that the GDP is expected to increase by 1.7 percentage points in 2019 thanks to external demand and by 2.4 percentage points thanks to domestic demand. It is one of the peculiarities of the next year's social and economic development forecast. He attributed the increase in the domestic demand to the peak spending as part of the Belarusian nuclear power plant construction project.
