Prospects of Belarus' economic cooperation with German Thuringia discussed

MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Germany Denis Sidorenko visited the state of Thuringia, Germany where he met with Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow and Speaker of the Parliament Christian Carius, representatives of the Embassy of Belarus in Germany told BelTA.

The ambassador informed those present about the political, social, and economic situation in Belarus, new opportunities for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Belarus and Germany, including at the regional level. The framework conditions Belarus offers to foreign investors in various industries were also mentioned.

The sides mentioned the existing positive example of manufacturing cooperation between Belarusian and German companies. Ways to invigorate cultural cooperation and cooperation based on the sister city movement were discussed. Exchange programs between Belarusian and Thuringian universities were mentioned.

The ambassador thanked Thuringian humanitarian organizations for providing assistance to the Chernobyl-affected Belarusian lands over the course of many years.
