Prime minister praises quality of Belarus-made Geely cars

MINSK OBLAST, 27 July (BelTA) – The quality of the Geely cars, which are assembled in Belarus, is commendable. Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov made the relevant statement after test-driving a Geely Emgrand GT car on 27 July, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Kobyakov said: “A decent car. Comfortable and spacious. It is understandable the equipment is good since this one has an improved package of options. Driving is smooth and soft.”

Six Geely car models, which are assembled in Belarus at present, were presented before the head of government at a presentation site of the Belarusian-Chinese automaker SZAO BelGee.

BelGee is now busy building a new factory. The first car is supposed to roll off the assembly line at the very beginning of 2017. The factory is designed to make 60,000 vehicles per annum initially. It will make three models — two crossovers and a sedan. “Those will be fresh models, a new market product. Thanks to these models Geely Company is the top seller. Queues for buying these models can be 2-3 months long,” said BelGee Production Manager Pavel Guretsky.

Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov is expected to visit various places in Minsk Oblast today. Apart from the BelGee factory the head of government is expected to visit the Borisov-based pharmaceutical factory Borimed where the company's financial performance and development prospects will be discussed. Andrei Kobyakov will also visit the Loshnitsa branch of OAO Borisov Meat Processing Plant where progress of the grain harvesting campaign in Minsk Oblast will be reviewed.
