PM: Manufacturing output is on the rise in Belarus

MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Manufacturing output in Belarus has been recently increasing, Belarus PM Andrei Kobyakov said in an interview to Belarus One Channel, BelTA has learned.

Summarizing the results of the Q1 2017, the Belarusian head of government took note of several positive trends. The growth of manufacturing output totaled 104.3% over the period under review. “Ten out of 13 key industrial production sectors are demonstrating an absolute growth. The Industry Ministry, the concerns Bellegprom and Bellesbumprom, the Construction and Architecture Ministry showed the growth in the manufacturing output. The most important thing is that this has not led to an increase in a backlog of inventory,” Andrei Kobyakov said.

The basis for the economic growth of the industry is, first of all, an increase in exports, the PM stressed. The growth of the export in goods and services totaled 117.4% in January-February. “This is a good result. It is important that over the first two months the foreign trade balanced and we achieved a surplus of nearly $60 million,” he said.

Belarus' GDP increased by 0.3% in Q1. “We hope it will be a sustainable trend,” Andrei Kobyakov added.
