PM: Belarus ready to participate in projects to develop agrarian complexes in Uzbekistan

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) - Belarus is ready to participate in the projects to develop agrarian complexes in Uzbekistan, Belarus' Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said as he met with Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldoshev, BelTA has learned.

“We are ready to share our experience and expertise in agriculture, to participate in the projects to set up meat-and-dairy and livestock processing complexes in Uzbekistan by providing equipment, technology, and supplying breeding stock. We are ready to consider the possibility of setting up joint production of spare parts and equipment which will be in demand,” Andrei Kobyakov noted.

He stressed that the two countries have good opportunities for cooperation in various fields. Consideration is being given to the projects to assemble tractors, road-building machinery, gas-fueled buses in Uzbekistan. We have an opportunity to mull over a joint venture to manufacture medicines. There is a corresponding preliminary groundwork. In addition, you have an interest and we are ready to set up a joint licensed confectionery manufacture in Uzbekistan,” Andrei Kobyakov said.

The prime minister noted the positive dynamics of bilateral trade. “However,$130 million in mutual trade between Belarus and Uzbekistan is a modest figure. The capacity of our economies is much bigger. We should increase our mutual trade in the near future. We can offer products that are traditionally in demand not only in Belarus but also abroad. These are dairy products, meat, poultry, beef. We are ready to consider a proposal by the Uzbek side to ensure direct supplies of cotton fiber, fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, nuts to Belarus,” the Belarusian head of government said.

Nigmatilla Yuldoshev thanked the Belarusian side for the hospitality and said: “Uzbekistan welcomes the achievements of Belarus in socio-economic development. Belarus is one of the important and promising partners of Uzbekistan. Trust-based relations between the heads of state make the basis for the successful development of bilateral relations.”
