Plans to sell Belarus-Moldova trolleybuses into EU

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – Belarusian-Moldovan trolleybuses will be exported to the European Union, Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip told journalists following negotiations with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 19 April, BelTA informs.

A joint venture assembling Belarusian trolleybuses has been successfully operating in Chisinau, Pavel Filip said. Moldova wants to satisfy the demand of its cities in this kind of transport and supply it to European countries.

“This product is made in Moldova and has Belarusian roots. We can export it to the EU without customs duties,” Pavel Filip said.

Moldova will keep buying Belarusian buses, too. There are plans to start producing them in Moldova in the future, the prime minister added.

The Belarus president said it is necessary to develop the existing joint ventures in Moldova and also set up new ones. For instance, Belarusian tractors are now assembled in the country. The lineup of these products can be extended through the launch of production of small-capacity vehicles used by small or private households.

Belarusian companies are also ready for road construction in Moldova. They have been taking part in related tenders. The head of state reassured that the roads built by Belarusian specialists boast a high quality and can be operated for several decades.

Moldova will receive support to open new processing companies in Belarus to further export the products to third countries. “Come to Belarus, we will provide you with the necessary support. Do not worry, you will not be deceived. This cannot happen in Belarus. This thing is under strict control,” Alexander Lukashenko underlined.
