Plans to open Georgian trading house in Minsk by year end

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – Plans have been made to open a trading house of Georgia in Minsk by the end of the year, BelTA learned from Ambassador of Georgia to Belarus Valeri Kvaratskhelia on 15 August.

The trading house will be located at 48 Kuibysheva Street. It will offer the best Georgian food and wines. Food samplings will be arranged. Genuine Georgian cuisine will be offered. The interior design is being worked out now.

“It will be a small part of Georgia in Minsk,” noted the ambassador.

In his words, the project will allow Minsk residents and guests to learn more about Georgia in addition to promoting tighter relations between countries.

On the whole, the ambassador mentioned the high level of cooperation between Belarus and Georgia. It is now necessary to raise the bilateral trade turnover to $200 million. “We are getting close to the figure. And it is not the best we can do. There are many areas we have yet to explore. Two free economic zones have been opened in Georgia. Belarusian companies are interested in setting up joint ventures. The problem of logistics is left to be addressed. It is now fashionable in Georgia to work with and be friends with Belarus,” said the ambassador.

The ambassador reminded that Minsk Days took place in Tbilisi this spring. A Belarusian-Georgian business forum was arranged as well as an exhibition of products made by Minsk companies. Dozens of contracts were signed. Minsk and Tbilisi signed a program of cooperation for 2018-2020, which specifies partnership avenues in the sphere of economy, tourism, culture, education, transport, and utilities industry.
