Plans to open Belarusian trading house in Russia's Sakhalin

MOSCOW, 11 April (BelTA) – The possibility of opening a Belarusian trading house on the Sakhalin Island was discussed during a meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Sakhalin Oblast. The meeting was attended by a Belarusian delegation headed by Belarus' Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats in Yuzhny-Sakhalinsk on 11 April, the press service of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia told BelTA.

“The parties talked over the ways of boosting the Belarusian export to Sakhalin and setting up the Belarusian trading house to ensure direct supplies from Belarus. The working group also discussed the progress in the projects to build a dairy farm in the village of Razdolnoye of Sakhalin Oblast and a milk processing shop. The issues regarding the shipments of pedigree cattle for the Sovkhoz Korsakovsky dairy farm, Belarus' participation in the cattle acquisition tender, the terms of cattle delivery to Sakhalin Oblast were also on the agenda of the meeting,” stated the source.

The parties discussed the issues regarding further intensification of cooperation to increase deliveries of Belarusian agricultural, cargo, passenger, mining, road building and utility equipment. The parties also reviewed a land reclamation project to be implemented by Belarus in Sakhalin and the shipment of Belarusian reclamation equipment.

“Following the meeting the parties signed a plan of action for 2018-2019 to implement the intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Sakhalin Oblast of the Russian Federation. The document was signed by Belarus Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats and Governor of Sakhalin Oblast Oleg Kozhemyako,” added the press service.
