MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – Plans have been made to draft a roadmap to improve Belarus' investment climate, Natalia Nikandrova, Director of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus, told reporters on 29 September, BelTA has learned.

Some of the suggestions that will be included in the roadmap will be discussed at the forum Broadening the Horizons: Investment, Finance, Development that is underway in Minsk.

“This document will used by the government to adjust certain aspects of the economic policy,” Natalia Nikandrova explained. The roadmap will include proposals by private businesses and foreign investors on the ways to create additional favorable conditions for the attraction and utilization of investments and elimination of barriers hindering investment activities.

“The final draft of the document will be prepared after the forum,” Natalia Nikandrova specified.

Minsk is playing host to the forum Broadening the Horizons: Investment, Finance, Development on 29 and 30 September. The experts discuss strategies for attracting foreign investments to Belarus, prospects for investment cooperation with the financial institutions of the European Union, the Eurasian Economic Union and China, and the opportunities for involving U.S. investors in Belarusian projects. There are plans to develop a roadmap to set major directions for agreed actions to improve the institutional environment for expanding the investment and funding opportunities. This will contribute to the development of the public and private sectors of the Belarusian economy.
