Plans to design Belarus' pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai by September 2018

MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – Belarus plans to design the national pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai by September 2018, Director of the National Center for Marketing and Price Study Valery Sadokho told the media on 21 March, BelTA has learned.

“In line with the schedule, we are to approve the national pavilion design in September and to be ready to start the construction,” Valery Sadokho clarified.

In his words, preparations for Expo 2020 Dubai are divided into several stages. An engineering company has been selected to prepare for the design and construction of the Belarusian pavilion and monitor this process. “The engineering company was chosen literally yesterday. Next up, we will select the general contractor to design and build the facility,” he added. The most important thing is the content of the Belarusian pavilion.

The theme of Expo 2020 Dubai is Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, said Yevgeny Lazarev, Senior Counselor of the Directorate for Coordination of Foreign Economic Activity at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “We will try to center our exhibition around information technologies and innovations, in the first place. Our exhibition will be arranged under the slogan of three I's: Innovations, Investments, Individual,” he stated.

The Belarusian pavilion is expected to comprise three sections. Section 1 will be dedicated to innovations, technologies, and developments in Belarus. Section 2 will focus on Belarus' investment opportunities. “We plan to tell how we are going to put our innovations into practice. Section 3 will be dedicated to people as they come up with innovations and take advantage of them in the end,” Yevgeny Lazarev summarized.

He stressed that the organizers of the Belarusian exhibition at Expo 2020 would like to involve citizens in preparations, too. “We have a concept, a vision of how our exhibition will look like. It is important for us, however, to learn the opinion of our citizens, to get to know what exhibits should be displayed, how to demonstrate our ideas and what technical solutions can be used. We also expect to engage the business community that could present its products and developments. These may be manufacturers of industrial goods and products which could go on show with the help of IT technologies. We plan to open a shop of Belarusian brands at the expo. We are open to cooperation with anyone who would like to make a contribution to our exhibition,” he noted.

With this goal in mind, the National Center for Marketing and Price Study intends to introduce a feedback form for any individual or legal entity to bring forward proposals. There will probably be a certain page on export.by website.

Expo 2020 will take place in Dubai, UAE from October 2020 to April 2021. The expo is expected to host around 180 countries and from 25 to 30 million visitors.
