Plans for amusement center in China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone

MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) – The Hong Kong company China Travel Service may build an amusement center in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. The possibility was discussed when a Belarusian delegation led by Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky visited the special autonomous district Hong Kong and the city of Shenzhen in China on 18-20 October, the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry told BelTA.

In Hong Kong the Belarusian delegation presented Belarus' investment climate and the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone project. Over 450 representatives of government agencies and business circles of China attended the event. The Belarusian delegation also arranged a business briefing in Shenzhen. As many as 150 people took part in the event. Apart from that, a roundtable session was held in Hong Kong to highlight Belarus as an investment platform as part of the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt. Representatives of major Chinese companies took part in the event. They were made familiar with Belarus' social and economic development, the investment potential and the main aspects of doing business in the country. Directing the attention of representatives of the region's business community towards cooperation with Belarus, the development of high-tech and competitive enterprises in the country, first of all, in the industrial park Great Stone, were the main goals of the events.

The Belarusian Economy Minister also met with top executives of China Merchants Group for the sake of discussing the construction of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone and prospects of its development. Vladimir Zinovsky also met with representatives of the Hong Kong company China Travel Service. A memorandum of intent was signed with the company when the Belarus president visited China in September 2016. As a result of the meetings and negotiations the Belarusian Economy Minister reached an agreement with China Merchants Group on establishing an investment fund in excess of over $150 million for the sake of providing assistance to the companies that implement projects in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone and the rest of the country.

Vladimir Zinovsky also met with top executives of the Hong Kong association of trade companies. The sides reached an agreement that representatives of Hong Kong companies will visit Belarus.

The visit of the Belarusian delegation to Hong Kong and Shenzhen is expected to help promote investment opportunities in Belarus. The visit is also expected to allow stepping up relations between the two countries in tourism affairs.
