MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – By setting up a pharmaceutics holding company Belarus will be able to more effectively promote its products abroad, BelTA learned from Viktor Sheyin, Deputy Director of the Pharmaceutics Industry Department, Head of the Economy and Marketing Office of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry.
A holding company is being established in Belarus to make pharmaceutical products in line with Belarus president decree No.258. The holding company will include not only state-run producers but private companies as well as some retailers and wholesalers.
Viktor Sheyin noted that several Belarusian pharmaceutical companies make a number of the same products. Competing on the domestic market and in foreign trade, they have to reduce prices in current conditions. As a result, the companies themselves earn less and foreign currency proceeds of the state as a whole are reduced.
Once the holding company is up and running, more effective cooperation schemes will be in place. The choice of products offered by different manufacturing sites will be coordinated. Mechanisms will be worked out to distribute products among the enterprises, distribute production volumes and target markets. The holding company will take care of that, said Viktor Sheyin.
According to the source, the holding company should be able to smoothly sell Belarusian pharmaceutical products, which are now shipped to over 29 countries. The figure indicates that Belarusian products are in demand all over the world, said the official. The geography of shipments grows fast, volumes are on the rise, and, best of all, Belarusian companies manage to find partners on foreign platforms.
Apart from that, there are plans to set up representative offices of pharmaceutical companies or trading houses abroad.
Belarusian pharmaceutical companies export 29% of their output. The Belmedpreparaty enterprise is the main exporter.
